Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited, also known as one of Big Four Company, is a UK based multinational professional services company, with huge network of offices around the world. In India, Deloitte has two establishments: Deloitte India and Deloitte US-India(USI), which is a region within the Deloitte US organization. Deloitte India deals with clients in Indian firms while Deloitte USI, locating in India, deals with clients of US firm. Both these entities are often part of on-campus placement drives for various universities across India.

Eventually, they were also part of placement drive in my university and both of them did offer a same decent package and same campus rounds. We were asked to give our preferences(Deloitte India or USI) while filling the form and also were asked about the location preferences within India. The rounds of selection may differ rarely, but mostly, there are 3 rounds in the whole recruiting process.

1st Round: Aptitude Test

Over 300–400 students appeared for the aptitude test from my university. The aptitude test was conducted on SHL-AMCAT test taking software with effective AI based video procurement. There were 3 sections: verbal, logical reasoning and quant. Each section had time limit of 30 minutes with no switching sections mode present. This section was pretty easy with sufficient time and not too difficult questions. MS/MBA aspirants, preparing for GRE/GMAT/CAT can fairly ace this section. Just maintain proper speed for solving questions. One of the useful website for preparation: https://www.freshersnow.com/deloitte-placement-papers/

Round 2: Group Discussion/Interview.

For this round, almost 97 students got shortlisted for Deloitte USI and 40 students got shortlisted for Deloitte India. So, further, Deloitte India shortlisted had a Group discussion(GD) as a round 2, whereas Deloitte USI had a direct interview as round 2(which I will cover in round3 para).

GD for Deloitte India was mostly based on a case study and was conducted on Microsoft teams platform with students divided into group of 6–8. Each case study was unique and the task was to provide effective solutions in a time limit of 20 minutes. The GD is judged by a supervisor and watching everything you say and do. Its completely fine, if you don’t understand the topic in case study, carefully listen to other members on what they say and try to understand the gist out of it. But, don’t speak rubbish. The supervisors are looking for skills like confidence, teamwork, leadership, verbal fluency and analytical ability to deal with the problem. At the end of 20 mins, everyone is given an equal chance to speak about the conclusion out of the topic. Round 3: HR+Technical Interview.

Out of 40 students selected under Deloitte India, 17 students were further shortlisted for round 3. For Deloitte USI, 97 students directly had interview rounds after aptitude test round. The Interviews for both entities were almost resume based, so prepare and know your resume well. Some students were purely asked technical questions while some were asked purely HR question. There were some other students who were asked combination of both HR and technical questions. My interviewers were quite calm and friendly. They asked me questions like:

  1. Tell me about your self
  2. The Job profile, they are recruiting demands which technologies?(For this pay attention in the pre-placement talk)
  3. Which programming languages you’ve studied about?
  4. Do you know about DBMS technologies like SQL?
  5. Which achievement your really proud of?

My batchmate was asked on a bit more technical side as follows:

  1. Write down certain program in C++?
  2. Difference between certain concepts like pointers/Inheritance, etc.
  3. Why Deloitte and not other company?
  4. Are you ready to relocate?

Many other questions were asked and the interview longed for 15–30 minutes. Useful website to prepare for the interview prep: https://www.indiabix.com/

Later, they announced the results on the same day and 56 students, in total, were selected i.e. for Deloitte India, 9 students got selected whereas for Deloitte USI, almost 47 students got selected. Don’t be sad or disappointed, if your not selected. Consider, the whole process as a wonderful learning experience and use it for betterment in other interviews in future. Chin up and sit for the next one with same confidence and enthusiasm.

All the best!
